“You’re never too old to learn something new.”
I don’t know who should get the credit for the above quote, but I believe those words are true.
For the past two years, I’ve wanted to start a blog like this one, but just didn’t have the courage.
The main thing holding me back: What if I write words and no one read wants to read them?
My sweet husband finally convinced to me go ahead and try. He’s spent hours with me getting this blog set up on WordPress. Remember the above quote? We’ve both definitely learned a new skill in setting up this blog. (A special thanks goes out to Kristin Lail and Jennifer Lawson for their advice and time spent helping me with my many questions.) My heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you who are joining me on this blog. I promise not to spam you or try to sell you something.
If you have joined me here, it’s likely that you love to read, too. Maybe you are also like me in that you have both a limited time to read and a limited book budget. Have you ever spent an hour in a bookstore picking out a book; eagerly begin reading it, and end up thinking “Why did I spend my time and money on this one?” Through this blog, I’m hoping to help you avoid that. I’m going to give you honest reviews on books that are going to be published, and also review some that have been on the market for awhile. I’m hoping to be able to share good buys and giveaways from some of your favorite authors. Maybe, through the reviews on this page, you’ll discover a new author that you just love or you’ll find that you want to read a completely different genre of books.
Every book that I review on this page will follow the guidelines of Philippians 4:8: “…true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable,….excellent and worthy of praise.” (NLT) Stories of restoration and redemption; heartache and gladness; funny and heartwarming—they should all fit these guidelines. May all that we read honor the Lord and help us to reflect those qualities in our own lives.
There’s some amazing authors and books out there. Let’s read them together!
I love that you are doing this! I recently started a blog too and it took a lot of courage to do it just like you said. I love to read so I am looking forward to reading you blog.
It has been my pleasure! I look forward to seeing your blog grow! <3
Hooray, Patti! I always love hearing what you’ve read. I just revived my book blog, too. It’s a wonderful way to discuss what I’ve taken from a book… Even if I’m just talking to myself.
Thank you, Patti! I appreciate your courage! 🙂
