This cookbook is not “just” a cookbook.  Besides the many different recipes, there are several articles about the Amish way of life that are respectful of their traditions and values.

This cookbook is based on the “Amish Cooking Class” series by Wanda Brunstetter.  Those who have read that delightful series will appreciate many of the comments about those characters in this cookbook.  However you do not have to have read those books to soon realize that the recipes are ones that will become some of your family’s favorites.

There’s too many great recipes to share in this review.  Many of the breakfast recipes look especially delicious and I’m looking forward to trying them soon.  There’s also an “Advice from Fellow Cooks” section that have some nice tips to make things go smoother in the kitchen.

I’ve always wondered about the recipe for “Shoofly Pie” and it’s included in this cookbook. I’m not a pie-maker, but I may give this one a try.

The photos make this book visually appealing.  I’d give this cookbook as a gift for anyone who loves learning the Amish way of cooking.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Net Galley.  I was not required to write a positive review and these opinions are my own.
