My Review:

I loved this quote from page 8 in this Bible study:  “Simplicity isn’t cleared countertops or an empty calendar. It goes much deeper than decluttering.  It goes to the heart of our faith.  Biblical simplicity calls for a courageous step forward toward pursuing a pure and simple devotion to God—keeping Him and His plans for our lives first in our hearts.  Simplicity, very simply, comes from within.”

This is a well-written, six week devotional study that helps us take a look at our own heart motives.  I especially liked and was challenged by Week Two: “A look at what drives us—what our treasures, time, and search for significance tell us about the state of our inner lives”.  Week Four was also an encouraging.  This chapter “explores the idea of “enough”—-discovering who we are in Christ.”

I felt that the commentary of the study was written in a clear, compassionate way that reached out those who are feeling overwhelmed with the demands of every day life.  I thought that the use of scripture was correctly applied, and helped establish a Biblical base of making choices that revolve around a renewed commitment of allowing God to be our source of guidance and peace.  The questions are thoughtfully written and easily guide the reader through a look at scripture each day.

This is not a “deep dive” type of Bible study,  yet it is encouraging and convicting.  I went through this on my own, but it would be a wonderful study to do with a group.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.
