My Review:
This is a tightly written, suspenseful story. The action begins immediately within the first few pages of the book. This storyline moves along swiftly, so much so that it’s difficult to find a place to put the book down. With the fast pace of this story, the author skillfully communicates to the reader the tension that the main characters are dealing with as they are on the run from the danger that’s rushing after them. Although this is a shorter mystery/suspense book, it has all the impact of a longer novel.
One of the things that I love about this author’s books is that she not only gives us an exciting story, but she also allows us to get to know the characters in depth. I could easily sympathize with Lilah’s grief, confusion, and fear as her world seems to implode around her. I felt as if I understood Levi’s struggles with his non-Amish past and the protectiveness and love he develops for Lilah. They make some imperfect decisions throughout this book, but that only adds to the interest in the story.
Readers of both Amish fiction and Christian suspense fiction will enjoy this book. I enjoyed reading this intriguing story.
