My Review:
This book has an intriguing storyline: What happens next when you not only find out that you’re adopted, but that your parents were Amish?Annette DuPont’s faced rejection and disappointment from the parents who raised her, and now she’s searching to find connection with a family that she didn’t know existed. A clue leads her in a surprising direction: an Amish community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Annette’s story was interesting. Just as she finds an Amish connection with her birth family, the Amish community is battered by a terrible storm. Annette finds herself drawn into the aftermath of rescue and recovery. As she helps the Fisher family face the damage to their family farm, Annette comes to know and love this family as her own. There’s some surprising revelations waiting for Annette and the Fishers, but there’s also an opportunity to get to know a next door Mennonite neighbor, Matt Miller, as they work together to help the Amish community.
The storm’s impact on the community leads to several “search and rescue” events that add interest to the story. I would have liked a deeper character development of some of the main characters, but I still enjoyed the book. The author incorporated some good spiritual principles throughout the story of trusting God during difficult times.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
