Review of ”Worthy of Legend” by Roseanna M. White

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION

After a summer of successful pirate-treasure hunting, Lady Emily Scofield and her friends must hide the unprecedented discoveries they’ve made, thanks to the betrayal of her own family. Horrified by her brother, who stops at nothing to prove himself to their greedy father, Emily is forced to take a stand against her family–even when it means being cut off entirely. Bram Sinclair, Earl of Telford, is fascinated with tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table–an interest he’s kept mostly hidden for the last decade. But when a diary is unearthed on the islands that could lead to a secret artifact, Bram is the only one able to piece the legends together. As Bram and Emily seek out the whereabouts of the hidden artifact, they must dodge her family and a team of archeologists. In a race against time, it is up to them to decide what makes a hero worthy of legend. Is it fighting valiantly to claim the treasure . . . or sacrificing everything in the name of selfless love?

My Review:

This “Secrets of the Isles” series has been one of my favorite series by one of my favorite authors.  Each book has been filled with adventure, faith, and hope.  You won’t need to have read the other two books in this series to enjoy this story, but I’d recommend reading them in order to help you fully understand the scope of this story.  The beautiful setting of this series adds to the mystery and twists in the storyline.  Throughout this series, we get to know each of the main characters in depth, and by the time you’ve read each book, you’ll feel as if you’ve been part of the Tremayne family and their circle of friends.

In this book, the focus is on two of the main characters.  Lady Emily Scofield has found herself estranged from her family because she refuses to go along with their underhanded methods of searching for antiquities.  Bran Sinclair is also interested in this search, but his main goal has been to protect Lady Emily from being harmed by her brother.  There’s quite a bit of intrigue and action in this story, and the ending was nothing like I thought it would be.

I appreciated this author’s emphasis on loving others as Christ has loved us, even when they seem to reject our efforts to help them.  Emily’s example of this towards her brother is heart-touching and also a reminder to never give up sharing His love with others.  I highly recommend this book and this series.  It’s a perfect example of well-written Christian fiction that fulfills the purposes of both entertaining and inspiring us.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.
