Review of “Lone Star Standoff” by Margaret Dailey

Book description from NetGalley:

“Presiding over the trial of a powerful drug cartel member, Judge Aubrey Madison finds her life threatened, and Texas Ranger Sean McNair isn’t taking any chances. Protecting the widow and her twins comes naturally to Sean—maybe too naturally for a guy who’s convinced he shouldn’t have a family. But he can’t help wishing for a future with Aubrey…if he can keep her alive.”

My Review:

This is another great story by Margaret Daley, who knows how to write a book that’s both suspenseful and romantic.  Sean and Aubrey make a terrific couple.   Aubrey is a strong, resourceful woman who has suffered great tragedy.  Sean has experienced loss in his family, too, and as they both work together on this case, they are drawn closer together because of their loss.   I especially enjoyed the “family” aspect of this story as Aubrey’s five-year-old twins added both some fun to the story, as well as a little extra suspense for their well-being.

There’s a thread of faith that runs through the story as Aubrey learns to trust God to protect her family.

This storyline has quite a few twists and turns in it to hold your interest all throughout the story.  I was never quite sure what was going to happen next.  Readers of Christian suspense will enjoy this one.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
