Review of “A Double Dose of Love” by Kathleen Fuller

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION

Prepare for a double dose of romance and fun when two sets of Amish twins find love.

Identical brothers Zeb and Zeke Bontrager aren’t looking for love. They have their hands full with a new horse farm, a half-finished ranch house, and a wild colt, thanks to Zeke’s hasty business dealings. Now Zeb must contend with Zeke’s bad decisions, hidden debts, and tendency to avoid responsibility, which threaten their good standing in the Birch Creek Amish community.

When a newspaper ad prompts Darla King to travel to Birch Creek in search of a husband, her identical twin, Amanda, promises their parents she’ll convince Darla to come home. After all, Amanda is the responsible and reliable one. She has always protected Darla, who acts on impulse and trusts people too easily. The sisters’ close relationship is strained as Darla asserts her independence and Amanda grapples with regrets of her past and the longings of her own heart.

When Zeb and Amanda join forces to protect Darla and Zeke from each other, none of them can possibly predict the outcome as all four come face-to-face with their highest hopes and deepest insecurities in the first installment of the Amish Mail-Order Bride series.

My Review:

This delightful Amish story made me smile and kept me turning pages to see what intriguing idea that Darla King would come up with next.  Darla’s seeking an “adventure” and moves to Birch Creek.  She’s convinced that God has directed her to Birch Creek and that she’ll find a husband there.  Amanda, Darla’s identical twin sister, has come along to Birch Creek to keep an eye on Darla and convince her to return home to their parents.  But when Darla meets Zeb Bontrager, she’s convinced she’s found her true love at last.  The only trouble is that Zeke is irresponsible and his identical twin brother, Zeb, is trying to pull them out of the bad financial decisions Zeb has made.  Amanda and Zeb have their hands full trying to keep Darla and Zeke on the right path.  But will that path also lead them to each other?  All four young people will find that God’s plans are always best.

I loved all the characters in this book, but I especially loved Darla’s quirky, sweet personality.  It’s fun watching the two sets of twins draw closer and closer together.  This story is set in an Amish community that’s loving and supportive, and every character in this book adds something to the story.  Kathleen Fuller’s a great storyteller, and she’s made this one shine with the themes of love, forgiveness, and hope.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.
