Review of “The Amish Cowboy’s Homecoming” by Ophelia London

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION

What happens when a traditional horse whisperer clashes with an unconventional trainer within the charming Amish community of Honey Brook?

Grace Zook has always held a talent with horses, ever since she was a child growing up in her quaint Amish village of Honey Brook. Now, as an adult, she’s become a master trainer—but still struggles to prove to her father that she is worthy of taking over the family’s horse farm. With a fiery new stallion coming soon, Grace knows this challenge is her chance to prove she can finally take the reins.

When widower and horse whisperer Isaac King is offered the lead training job on a new farm out of town, he’s thrilled to finally make a name for himself and provide some permanent roots for his young daughter. But not only is the stallion seemingly unbreakable, so, too, is the owner’s headstrong daughter Grace, who has drastically different ideas about how to handle the impossible horse. Yet somehow, he can’t seem to get the confident, beautiful woman out of his mind…even though as his boss’s daughter, she is completely off-limits.

There’s too much at stake for Isaac to gamble his future on Grace…even though suddenly, he can’t imagine one without her.

My Review:

Ignore the somewhat cheesy title to the book.  This is quite an interesting story.  I’m glad I read it.

I loved the character of Grace in this book.  She’s determined, strong-minded, and spunky—but she also deeply loves her family and friends.  She’s determined to take over her father’s business as a horse trainer, a job that’s unusual for an Amish woman.   But her dad is reluctant to turn the business over to Grace, and hires Isaac King to help Grace train a high-spirited horse.  Isaac is looking for a permanent home for both he and his daughter and he hopes the community of Honey Brook will be that place. However, Grace and Isaac have different views on horse training and they have to find a way to work together on this crucial project. It’s not long until the both begin to wonder about a future together, and finding a way to achieve both their dreams and still carry on Amish traditions.

This is a clean, sweet story that was enjoyable to read.  Although I knew that the book very likely had a happy ending, it was fun following Grace and Isaac as their relationship grew from friendship into love.  I recommend this one for those who like clean Amish fiction.
