Review of “An Unexpected Amish Harvest” by Carrie Lighte

Book Description

She’s struggling to forgive…

But it’s the only way to heal her heart.

When Susannah Peachy returns to her grandfather’s potato farm to help out after her grandmother’s injured, she’s not ready to face her ex-beau. But with Peter Lambright pitching in to harvest her grandfather’s crop, she can’t avoid him. For his family’s sake, Peter can’t tell Susannah why he had to leave her. But sharing his secret could make all the difference for their future…

My Review:

I loved the two main characters in this book, Peter and Susannah.  Susannah experienced being misjudged and overlooked because of some decisions about her health and appearance. Because Peter felt loyalty to his family, he did not want to share his mother’s illness or his brother’s problems.  This led to Peter’s decisions and actions being misunderstood.  Peter and Susannah’s relationship had been torn apart because of these misunderstandings, and it seemed as if there is no way to put things together again.

I admired Peter’s steadfastness in being trustworthy and honorable, even while he was being treated unfairly. Susannah’s care for her grandparents also showed her strength of character.  I enjoyed reading this interesting story and appreciated the strong emphasis on faith and trust during difficult times.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
