My Review:
I love it when a book surprises me and takes a different direction than I had first thought it would.  This story did just that.  I have to admit that when I read the first few pages, I had the idea that this book was going to be following the “typical” storyline that we read in many Christian fiction books.  However, there were two or three twists that I didn’t see coming that took this story in a thoughtful, heart-warming direction.

The main character, Mikey, is a compassionate, immature young man who made a foolish mistake.  He’s resolved to put that behind him and live a responsible life.  Mikey’s story (which includes his girlfriend Shiloh) was the part of the book that surprised me—in a good way.  They decided to have their own version of “rumspringa” and made choices which were somewhat immature and naive. I liked both of these characters and there were parts of their story that made me smile.

This book has some needed themes about forgiving others; reconciliation and God’s love for us.  There’s some lessons for all of us to take to heart.  The way of forgiveness may be a difficult one, but the rewards are great.

This is another beautiful story from this author.  As always, I’m looking forward to her next book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
