Review of ”The View From Coral Cove” by Amy Clipston

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION

When a jilted romance novelist escapes to a small beach town, the last thing she expected to find was the start of an even better love story.

In the wake of a broken engagement and the death of her last surviving family member, sweet romance novelist Maya Reynolds moves to the haven of Coral Cove, North Carolina, to take over her great-aunt’s toy store. Some of her grief is immediately eased by imaginative eight-year-old Ashlyn Tanner, who talks her into adopting a kitten and inspires Maya to create a princess tea-party room in the store. Ashlyn’s dad, local veterinarian Brody Tanner, is quickly smitten by the newest resident of his hometown. As a single parent, he sacrifices a lot in order to give Ashlyn the world, so a romantic entanglement with Maya is not a distraction he is looking for.

As the three develop a deepening bond in the seaside town where Maya experienced some of her happiest childhood memories, clouds cast a shadow over Maya’s hope for the future: an impossible deadline looms over her next novel, a long-held secret by her late mother about Maya’s absent father comes to light, and Brody’s resolve to avoid romance seems unbreakable. But together, they just might discover that sometimes happy endings happen outside the pages of Maya’s novels too.

My Review:

This book is perfect for those times when you want to read a sweet romance with a compelling storyline.  I enjoyed following Maya’s story.  She’s recently experienced times of deep sorrow.  Maya’s lost her beloved aunt, her last living member of her family.  Maya’s fiancé also unexpectedly broke their engagement, and now Maya feels alone in the world. However, she finds a new start in life by owning and running her aunt’s toy store. Then eight-year-old Ashlynn unexpectedly bursts into Maya’s life, and she instantly becomes a source of light and laughter for Maya.  Even though Maya’s suffering from writer’s block and just can’t seem to find the words to pen her next bestseller, Maya own real-life story has the potential of becoming all she ever hoped and dreamed. But will she have the faith to hold on and see that happy ending?

I love this author’s writing style and the way she kept adding twists in the storyline that kept me turning pages to see what was coming next in Maya’s story. I liked Brody Tanner, a genuinely good guy who was sorting through his own deep hurt and disappointment.   Both Brody and Maya needed courage to reach out for the happiness that could be theirs.  This is a beautiful story and one that’s full of faith, hope, and love.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.
