Review of ”Cicada Season” by Mindy Steele

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION

The Miller’s Creek matchmakers are multiplying, and they aren’t done with the Milford half dozen yet.

Hannah Troyer thinks she can do it all, but it’s clear the young woman needs help with the apple harvest this year. The local bakers have an idea on how to remedy that. Throw in a handsome, overly confident, Leon Milford and let the sparks fly.

It will be the craziest summer ever to hit Miller’s Creek, but who doesn’t like a good challenge?

My Review:

I love all the characters in the Amish community of Miller’s Creek, especially the Amish matchmakers who work at Miller’s Bakery.  In this story, they have their greatest challenge yet in trying to bring together Hannah Troyer and Leon Milford.  Both are extremely competitive and neither like to lose.  Since the tragic loss of her dad, Hannah has had her hands full trying to manage her family’s apple orchard.  When it’s decided that Leon Miller is the one who needs to lend Hannah’s family a hand, the competitive sparks begin to fly between Hannah and Leon.  It’s going to take all in ingenuity that the matchmakers have to finally help Hannah see that Leon is the match that God has for her.

This is a well-written story and I enjoyed seeing both Hannah and Leon change as the book progressed.  There’s several twists and turns with these characters, and the story is a great reminder to all of us that God is walking with us through all stages of life.  This book is fine as a stand-alone story, but I’d encourage you to read all of Mindy Steele’s “Miller Creek” series to learn more about the background of these characters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.

Because both sides of the fence has a story to tell.
