My Review:

This thoughtful and well-written devotional book by author Susan M. Clabaugh is a source of Biblical encouragement.  The author describes the book as “A 30-day Devotional for Living in the Joy of Christ During this Season” and I believe this is a perfect description for how these devotions can work in a reader’s life during times of difficulty and seasons of change.

The book is divided into three sections:  “Embracing Gratitude”; “Embracing Who You Are In Christ”; and Embracing the Journey”.  As she shares Biblical truth with the reader, each day begins with a Bible verse and devotional from the author.  This is then followed up by the day’s call-for-action “Embracing the Journey” moment which gives a clear suggestion on how to focus your thoughts, pray, and create a gratitude/journal/prayer list to help you on your daily journey to joy in Christ.  There ample blank “Daily Gratitude/Prayer Journal” pages in the back of the book to help you as you jot down your thoughts and prayers for the day.

What gives this book an authentic voice is that as you read these devotions, you are also sharing with this author her own personal journey to finding joy during difficult times.  This book is a perfect study for you to do on your own, but it would also be a wonderful guide for a small group to go through together.  I’m glad to have it on my shelf, and will look forward to going through it again at a later time when I need encouragement.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher.  All opinions are my own.
