Encouragement from The Word

Isaiah 58:11

“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.  You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.” (NLT)

A couple of years ago, we were walking through the abundant gardens of the Biltmore Estate.  I discovered this beautiful little bench tucked away in a corner.  We had done quite a bit of walking, and it seemed a good place to rest for a few minutes.  As I sat there hidden away from the other garden visitors, I began reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation in those gardens.  I was reminded of His goodness in my life, and the weariness fell away. Not only was I refreshed physically, but I came away with a renewed mind. Those few minutes alone with God in the garden still linger in my memory today.

My friend, are you struggling?  Do you feel dry and wonder how you can go another day?  Your situation may not allow you to spend time in a beautiful garden, but you can find the rest you need by spending time in His Word.  Take a few minutes to read Psalm 91.  It’s a short 16 verses, and won’t take long to read. He is your refuge and strength; your place of safety.  I’m praying that you find that peace of heart and mind today.

Thank you Patti for these wonderful words of encouragement today. I too love to sit on benches among beautiful flowers. Where Roger’s father lives they have such a bench. We take him for walks, and always have to stop and rest on a bench surrounded by flowers.
